Welcome to The Neighbors' Place!
Have you seen the latest improvements to The Neighbors' Place?
Thanks to the generous people, foundations, businesses, and organizations that supported "Help Thy Neighbor .... A 2008 capital campaign to sustain The Neighbors' Place and empower local individuals and families" over $520,000 was raised, and has been held at The Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin, designated to pay off the existing mortgage and begin needed renovations, keeping an eye toward energy efficiency and reducing the organization's carbon footprint.
The idea, from the beginning, was that these renovations would be funded with specific, designated funds and not affect our ability to continue to provide services to those in need.
The mortgage was paid off first - within the first year. Then the furnace was replaced. The efficiency we gained was immediate and lasting. Next we replaced the roof, adding new insulation and sun tubes. Again, the decrease in heating and electrical costs was immediate. During the first winter with the new roof (even though it was significantly colder) heating costs were lower then the year before. An additional benefit was that the roof stopped leaking.
This year, after much planning The Neighbors' Place is entering a new phase of the renovations. We call this phase "the changes that people actually can see". If you have been to The Neighbors' Place recently, or have even just driven by, I am sure you understand what I am saying. These changes to our building are bringing more then what is at first apparent: accessibility, energy efficiency, space efficiency, and better layout for our growing programs. Best of all, it has all been paid for by funds raised for this purpose.
The Neighbors' Place is truly blessed with the ability and resources to serve this community. The Board of Directors, staff, and all the people served here say THANK YOU for being part of the mission to help people in need.
